Transmission Cover - Clamp with Nut - Where to buy ???

Hello from Germany !

I miss a few of the little "clamps with nut" which are in the cab floor around the big hole for the transmission cover. I checked a few places but no one has them and therefore suggest to go the "standard nut and washer" way. Guess we all agree that that is not a very convenient way. I was able to buy the bigger "clamp with nut" which are needed to mount the inner fender to the firewall and I also saw that you can buy the "clamps with nut" which are on the grill to mount the grill to the air deflectors. But again, found no source for that "clamp with nut" for mounting the trans cover. Any idea / source ??? Thanx !

Kai,

I'm not sure what type of clamp you're referring to but you can probably find it at www.mcmaster.com. It might take a bit of browsing unless you know what the trade folks call the clamp but they have just about every type of clamp (or other piece of hardware) you could want.

I searched their site for "clamp" and found everything from aircraft skin assembly clamps to the kind you use to hold a screen in a window frame.

George

Transmission Cover - Clamp with Nut - Where to buy ???

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Jul-02 AT 10:16 AM (EST)]Thanx George. I'll check them out today. Here's a pic with a few of the larger ones as well as one of those I am searching. On the upper right you can see one installed (sorry, but it's hard to see) as well as one of these square holes into which this thing clamps. The clamp basically just holds the nut so that you can bolt the trans cover on without someone under the car holding the nut.

Thanx again.

Those are called "cage nuts". They can be found at McMaster-Carr in many sizes.

Transmission Cover - Clamp with Nut - Where to buy ???

Thanx again. I checked McMaster-Carr and found them under 'Panel Nut'. The original style used for the trans cover is a bit different, but I guess what they have at McMaster will work OK.

Greetings from Germany !
