Electrical troubles
HEy there truck dudes,
I'm having some electrical fun with my truck. No. 8 fuse blews the other day and I lost interior lights and speedometer/odometer. OK, changed the fuse and it blew right away. I don't know why, but I unplugged my electric brake controller and then it worked again. Only now the brake lights won't go off!!!!! Without the fuse in, the brake lights work fine. My schematics are pretty simplistic, so I can't even find the interior light curcuit on it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

almost every light inside the truck is off that fuse also the warning chime, glove box light and power mirrors as well... i think its gonna be a process of elimination my friend, but i would lean towards a shorted pin switch in the door jamb or something aloing those lines. not sure why u would have lost your speedo as well doesn't seem to get power from there, as far as i can see the speedo gets its signal from the ABS sensor

An update: I haven't looked at it yet, but the wife was driving the truck last night and when she hit the brakes, the speedo came back up and the interior lights worked. Thinking there's likely a short in the door jamb. That's where the wiring for the center-high mounted brake light goes and the rear overhead lamp are, I believe. Won't have a chance to look until the weekend, but that makes a bit more ense at least.
On the fuse box map, it says that the speedo/odometer are on that fuse as well. They may get there signal from elsewhere, but they still need juice.
