49 F1 bed mods

Gentlemen,

I managed to get some pics loaded up of my weekends accomlishments. To recap, I am fabbing my own rear bed panel/crossmember out of rectangular and round tubing. Yes the factory part is available, but, being the tightwad that I am I figured I'd try to fab my own and save a few bucks. So far (not counting the frosty beverages) I have about $15 invested (the stake pockets were a gift from my wife).
I have a few small detail pieces to fabricate before I can start welding the whole mess together.

It will be several weeks until I can get back to it. This weekend I will be hunting, next weekend I will take my annual "idiots on the water, freeze your cajones, mid-November jet-ski trip" at a local lake.

Here's a link to my weekend's progress;

Thanks everyone!
Bobby

That's coming together well, Bobby! No question about the strength of that -- you won't need a bumper! And it looks stock!

Bobby,
Looking good. I had replaced the same piece with a new repro steel floor last winter however I had purchased the rear crossmember and floor 15+ years ago. You are our tightwad hero!
