Post Went to Chevy Silverado Launch site

Well I keep seeing the Chevy truck banner ads popping up everywhere so I decided to take a look.

Looks like they wanted to copy Ford on a lot of items.

1. Large logo in center of tailgate.
2. Tailgate Assist
3. Super Cab rear power windows
4. larger cargo bed
5. Flex Fuel options

Then also I noticed that the new Tahoe looks almost like the new Expeditions. Headlights look similar, rear looks similar also.

Even the new Toyota Tundra looks similar to Ford F-150. Headlights, hood design, etc.

The Chevy looking similar to the Ford is kinda strange. As for Toyota, look at the past 5 years worth of the Tundra. Ever notice how it looks exactly like a 97-03 F-150. I've actually confused them at night-time.

The 07 Chevies are a completely new design from the 06 and older. Chevy just did a big internal re-arrangement to cut costs. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to copy a little to help out with their poor sales. I still think they're but ugly though.

New Chevys also copied the wide open doors on the extended cab, and util-track bed system from the Titan.

Is it just me or is this was the attractive version of the Nissan Titan and Chevy just bought the plans? It looks like an F-150 had a baby with a Titan, and this is what came out.

Nissan and GM are in some kind of agreement now aren't they? Maybe that explains one of the reasons it looks similiar.

It looks a bit like the Titan from the back looking forward...as does the ugly new Tundra.

GM/Nissan talks went nowhere, as did Ford/Nissan talks.

GM has an all new improved 900 truck line out now, Toyota is coming out with its new full size truck in 07' and Ford already has a redesigned truck, the F-150. I hope this leads to an all out price war this spring. Where as, the consumer wins out.

All manufacturers copy each others features if they are practical- otherwise only one brand would have disc brakes, only one brand would have air conditioning, only one brand would be 4WD, etc.
Same goes for styling, and Ford most definitely has "the look" so it's understandable that others would copy them.

Personally I'd rather they all copy Ford and we have a bunch of F-150 wannabes running around as opposed to having hordes of trucks based on the "I have no *********" styling of the Honda Element.
Much easier on the eyes...

I think the new 900 line of GM trucks are OK. Newer tech involved and that's good for consumers. We'll see what type of pricing they, GM, is going to establish. Then we'll see what Ford and Toyota offer this spring when the full size truck market presents itself in its entirety.

I wonder how Chevy managed to do that, seeing how the Tahoe has been on the market almost a year now and teh new Expedition just came out.

Chevy must have spies in the Ford design studio.

And I noticed that your can get a Chevy in black. Darn Bowtie boys coping Ford there too!

the new tahoe hasn't been out for a year...they just released it at most 6 months ago. the Expedition Xl just got released, but it is the same as the old one just 1 foot longer. why do you think the last 2 months Chevy has been creating huge rebates to get rid of the 06 models. they had $6000 in rebates for the Tahoe/Yukon

I will say that the new Tahoe supposedly has less wind resistance than that new Porsche Cayenne thing. At least that is what the dealership is claiming as a selling point up here.

IMO, the 2000-2003 Chevy trucks looked the best. Then they tried to go all boxy and screwed the entire look up. It only took them 4 years to refine the look enough that I'm starting to like them again.

We weren't saying these 2 looked like each other. Just stating different features that Chevy copied from Ford.
