High Performance 5.4's

As my Mustangs have gotten older, I enjoyed the fact that you could do a head swap, cams, intake, etc..., for upgrades as things went or you just wanted to squeeze as much HP naturally aspirated from the motor.

Does anyone know of any heads, or proven combos that work, or websites, or retailer that sell HP goodies for the 5.4?

I was just wondering because I find it so hard to look up things that will work on my truck, and honestly, I'm trying to draw up a game plan for my truck, just wondering if any of you know where I can be guided.

Thanks in advance.

Speaking of 'Stangs, you also have to remember things swap from the 4.6 to the 5.4. The biggies are the heads, cams, pistons... I often look at the Mustang 4.6 parts for stuff that may fit my truck.

Patriot, VT, Fox Lake, Sean Hyland would be additional places to look. Also look at RPM outlet for ideas.

Thanks guys....I just wish there was more of a following for high performance Ford trucks. If I had a 4.6, that would be great, but, there isn't much, that I've seen for the 5.4's, except the normal things like superchargers.

I like DSS, I think they make crazy *** motors, I might call them and bend their ear a bit

There was a very indept article in Hot Rod mag a few years ago when the Ford GT came out. The article went into great detail about the 5.4 that they put in that car. MAN! every single internal part of that motor is upgraded, hardened, strengthened, and lightened. I am on the lookout for a wrecked GT I can get that motor from (I can hardly type this with a straight face!). I wonder what SVT or Ford Performance has in the way of upgrade performance parts for our truck 5.4s?

Ford hasn't put anything out there for the 2v guys and only seems to be offering the Rousch S/C for the 3v owners.

Scorpion, I'm confused. Not trying to knock you man, but outside of the costs for some of the parts and the fact there is no real NA intake manifold to speak of, I can't see what you're saying. 4.6 or 5.4 the parts are a straight swap in most cases. Nobodies website bothers to tell you that... is that what the problem is?

I'd be more than happy to take a set of anyone's CNC P&P 4.6PI complete heads (same head as the 5.4PI), throw in a set of the low end rpm cams ('cause my rig is a tow vehicle), and update the fuel setup and programming - I could go with 36lbers and a higher flowing pump. While I'm in there, I'd take out the rotating assembly, put in Lightning H beam rods and new set of 15cc dished 4.6 pistons (cause they fit a 5.4 as well), and throw a K-B blower kit in. What holding me back? It isn't the fact that it doesn't work, it's the money involved... is that where you were going?

Outside of a forged 5.4 crank and rods, all these parts would fit the 4.6... so the cost in upgrading a 4.6 should be the same.
