Carb tune up or rebuild, make sure it's not leaking more than the engine burns for example.
If it still has points ignition, get rid of that. Pertronix (sp?) and other fine brands available, some screw right in.
This is a relatively slow turning beast with a lot to haul. Mostly keeping it tuned up and keeping your foot out of it is going to be about the limit, unless you want to rebuild it with higher compression, different cam, and head work.
Not sure of the parts interchange like heads and manifolds, but what good would parts designed for 4000 to 7000 rpm do on a boom truck, except maybe make it go "boom".....(it would be cool to have dual quads off a 427 for example...)
