96 with problems
My sister has a 96 psd with an automatic. It was shuting off when driving just like you turned off the key. It would restart and run a short time and shut down again. Dealer changed the camshaft sensor and truck ran ok for a few days . Now it shuts off when backing up . Dealer changed another sensor
and it is still doing it . Now they tell her the trans is leaking and the torque converter shuts down the truck when the fluid gets low. I told her to pick up the truck and get a second opinion.Im thinking wiring harness, relay?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks for any input.

If it is the cps again you will notice that the tach behaves oddly.
As far as the transmission shutting the truck down. I have seen them stall the truck, but I have never seen one actually shut the truck down. If it is stalling the truck, you will feel the truck to to surge forward as it stalls. Change the filter and fluid and keep the tranny full. I had one last 65k miles this was. It was not driven easy, the foreman who drove it actually used this as a way to know that the tranny was low.
