Wiring harness

Anyone know where I might find an OEM type wiring harness for my F6? I've searched some of the hotrod sites, and can only find custom harnesses. Or maybe I just need to get a few rolls of wire and do it myself, but I'd rather have a stock-looking job, even though I'm not building a show-truck.
Thanks for any info.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Dec-02 AT 11:39 PM (EST)]Try vintage-ford.com -- Sacramento Vintage Ford -- they sell kits that have plastic-coated wires with an authentic-colored cloth overlay. I bought them and have been happy. The kit is for F1 but I think (crosses fingers) that everthing should fit for F6 except you may need to extend the taillight wires.

I just installed a wiring harness from MAC's.. easiest thing in the world. AWESOME wiring diagram.

I agree with the other guy... an F1 harness SHOULD be same in all respects (under the dash that is) to an F6

Canted Valve!! Nice to see you here! I forgot you had an effie too! I will have to hit you up for advice when I get ready to re-wire the panel!
I haven't tackled that project yet!

I agree with the others. My only offering when it comes to wiring is this: AVOID "PAINLESS WIRING" KITS (aka, painFUL wiring). If MAC's and/or Sac Vin Ford has 'um, use 'um!!!

The only pitfall is that the wires won't be labeled to what they go to. This can be QUITE advantageous when you go to trace what wire goes to where later on. You may want to ask if the wires from MAC's and Sac Vin Ford are labeled individually?

Hope your re-wiring goes better than mine (nighmare)!

I bought mine where Jeff got his - and the cloth covered wires are the same color as the stock wires including tracers. If you have an operator's manual it shows the routing and hookups by color, so you don't need labels. SVF also sells the op manuals - fordhaven might too, don't know.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll try them. And I've got the shop manual from this site, so the wiring diagrams should help me. There is some stuff on the diagram that I don't understand. I've already been poking around under the dash, and the gauge cluster that has the oil, gas, and temp gauges, has 1 terminal of each gauge connected with a metal strip, and no external wire connected to it. The wiring diagram shows the same. How can this work? I expected a hot wire from the switch to go to this strip, then individual wires from the other terminal of each gauge to go to their respective sending unit (gas tank, water temps on heads, and oil pressure).
By the way, also just today got the Tex Smith book "The Complete Ford Flathead V8". Can't wait to read it all.
Thanks again,
Stan
