Question 1999 5.4 overhaul

I am trying to get the engine out of my 1999 F-250 Superduty 4x4 4-door. I have disconnected everything, labeled it, and so on. THe tranny is seperated about an inch, but the oil filter, and filter manifold I guess you could call it, are hitting the lower cross member. the oil pan itself also looks close to hitting it and the engine isn't out far enough to lift yet. any suggestions would be great..THANK YOU !!!!!

Welcome to the forum

I would remove the filter and filter housing. This should let you pull the engine.

If you can lift the motor up, but not clear the pan, drop the pan in the truck. Or, if the crossmember is bolted on, pull it and be done.

Another suggestion would be to unbolt the cab off the body and put 6" tall blocks between the body mounts and frame - there may be issues with steering, hoses, and wiring when doing it this way though. This method is suggested if you don't want to deal with the oil filter or pan just yet. Also jacking up the front of the tranny will change the angle out slightly and may provide additional clearance.
