A code reader is good to have to see what has turned on the mil-light. Most will do the same thing on the obd ii systems, check the codes, do a clear code thing to turn off the light. If you could get one that reads data stream so you could see what the computer sees would be sweet. But these tools aint cheap. Mine was about $3500, but i use it almost every day in the shop.
