Same trucks different rear brakes?
Hey guys
I have a 99 f150 std cab flarside 4.2 sitck and it has the offroad package.
My friend's dad has the same truck except it isn't a flareside and he also has the offroad package..
My truck has rear drum brakes and his truck has rear disc brakes... I was just kinda curious as to why that is?
Thanks,
Brian

There was an optional upgrade for rear discs from '97-'00... your friend's dad just happened to get the truck with the upgrade.

Would that make the whole truck seem to sit higher? We both have the same size tires it just seems that his truck has more ground clearance.
Thanks for the response!!

Nope, the brakes have nothing to do with it.
Factors affecting the ride height include the tortion bar adjustment for the front, weight/payload already in the vehicle, even tire sidewall stiffness may make the truck appear higher - then there's combinations of these things.

You'd think that would be easy, but you'd be wrong. I looked into it when I was going to buy a used truck with rear drums. Everything changes.
