Brakes, Pads and Shoes

I own a 1997 F150 Extended Cab Lariat 4x4 with a 4.6L v8.

I currently have 305 size tires on it I believe and I need new break pads I think due to the fact that when I break it isnt smooth and feels like it is pulsing. I cannot seem to find the correct pads to buy, so I was looking for some help. Thanks guys.

I can't see why you're getting the wrong parts, unless your truck has heavy brakes on it, like a LD 250 or something.

The top pad is for 7700 / LD 250's.
The Bottom is for regular 150's.

Hopefully it's a catalog error at the parts store. Good luck. Rob

Pulsing brakes also could be a sign of warped rotors. Might want to check that out if your pads look good.

Most definately, I just posted the graphics to show the difference in the pads. alberta46 is right though, pulsating is from warpedicated rotomtaters.

Suggestions? If and when you replace those rotors, put new and high quality pads on the turck, too (like ceramic pads).

Then research the "bedding in" of brake pads, and do it correctly. In my area it helps if I bed them in at night or early in the morning, as the traffic becomes too much of an issue otherwise.

When you get it apart, make sure all the sliders are free. You should be able to move them easily with your fingers. Clean the "shoes" where the pads slide on, and most importantly, put plenty of anti seize on the backs of the rotors, and on the hub and axle surfaces. Plenty, everywhere the rotor touches. I put ceramic pads on all the way around on my truck, and I'm happy with them.
