Replacing exterior door handle assembly...
Some a-hole tried to break into my '01 F150 this morning while I was eating breakfast. Looks like they jammed a big flathead screwdriver into the door lock. They boogered-up the lock cylinder and the plastic piece that surrounds the door handle.
I stopped by a locksmith and they said I need to get a new handle assembly then they can re-key or replace the lock cylinder. The local Ford dealership quoted me $75.00 for the assembly. I'm going to check around at a few junk yards to see if I can find one cheaper.
Does anyone have experience replacing this part? Any tricks? The truck has power door locks but no keypad. Is there anything I need to watch out for if sourcing one from a junkyard?
TIA!
