Extended Warranty pricing for Canadians
Has anyone purchased the Ford ESP Diesel Care in Canada. I got quoted $4,000 for the Ford the ESP Diesel Care Total which will add 2 years to a maximum 300k kms. Anyone get a better price? Or can I buy the warranty in the US? My original warranty expires in one week.
Thanks

I paid $3065 two weeks ago. The basic I believe was half as much. Actually had an email into Ford regarding what exactly was covered. The dealer gave me the brochure, but it is pretty vague. Ford replied that I should talk to my dealer to get more details. Funny, I was the one that sold the plan to myself. Even had to educate the girl that was supposed to push it on me. Well, my new "used" 6.0 has been in the shop since the day I bought it two weeks ago. Been driving a loaner from the dealership. In my case, it's a good idea. I put a lot of miles on my vehicles - +200KM each day. Paying that money, even at $4000 is pretty good insurance around here. Every 6.0 litre repair bill I have seen appears to be a major. From my neighbors $12000, to $15000 on a truck at work to $25000 for the engine replacement in mine. Hard working trucks, but repairs can be very costly here in Canada.

Yeah, I sort of flinched when I asked how much the repair would have cost me. The engine comes in at $19540 plus a weeks labour at +$100/hr., plus the usual shop supplies etc... Oh, if possible they will refund you the $4000 core deposit. Mine was still under the regular warranty, but doing the miles I do, it only makes sense to get the extend Ford warranty. I would check into what warranty they are trying to offer before I signed anything. There are big differences.

You have to keep in mind that the warranty is only good for X amount of years after it was first purchased (extended warranty) In my case, the extended warranty was around $3600 and was going to cover me for approximately another 1 year and a few months. I forgone it, deciding it was definately not worth it.

You can also buy a package that includes regular maintenance, but I never looked into the price for that one - it's paid for by my company anyway. And yes, one does have to read the fine print. If you have an 04, getting the extended warranty now is probably not a good idea. It would probably expire next month. In my case, it covers me to 300,000 KM or 2011. Considering that I put on 120,000 per year, it makes sense for me.

38K km with an 05! wow, must not have been driven much. My 05 last year had 140K km. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it.

Funny thing - we were looking for a truck with a big back seat for the grandchild and the baby seat and we were driving past a dealership and in the back was this huge F350 bright bright red. we stopped in and turns out it was a lease return from the local fire chief - he had leased a brand new one. this one had 38 km on it and the back seat looked like it had never been sat in - the bed was totally scratch free. We took it out for a test drive ( by the way you notice they never put fuel in them) - came back - it is an xlt but has rubber floor not carpet w/ upfitters and tow command. I whined about not needing a diesel and a 1 ton truck and finally got him down to 27 canadian plus the warranty. so i snapped it up - and i love it.

Sounds like a great deal with that low mileage. I paid $26000 for a full load F350 king ranch with 120,000 on it, and they gave me $16000 for my 06 Durango with 181,000 KM. They have dropped a lot in price, but they can still be relatively expensive here in Alberta. I priced out a new one on Ford's website. MSRP would have been $72,000 - that's nuts. I had no idea that you can get a power rear sliding window.
