My friend has a 1996 F250 PSD with e4od trans and 4wd the truck has 224,000 miles on it and i want to buy it but i dont want to spend too much $$$$. he will sell it to me but i dont want to get into trouble with costs of things breaking down or something going wrong. please tell me if this sounds like a good truck or should i look for a truck with less miles on it and some of the problems with the truck that i might have. thanks all.

 

The transmission is probably the biggest area for concern. If your friend has kept the truck up properly it should have another 250K in it. Look for sagging front springs, additives in the coolant, oil change history, etc.
Price is very subjective- what's the condition? frequent mud riding? does it drive well? Stock or modified? What part of the country are you in?
I would try not to pay over $8k for that truck but there's alot of info needed to make a good buying decision.
