I6 to Y-block swap on a 55 - How about it?
Hi Guys-
Trying to reach a compromise with my 22 year old. I've a 55 F-100 I6 (223?) stock - it's all there. He wants to hot rod it. I'm thinking a period appropriate y-block to "restore" it. Anyone done this? How realistic is this? Three on the tree, geared way too low and 6v.
Any tips, insight, comments, jokes, etc, appreciated.

Hi, I have a 54 f100 that I'm doing the same thing. I pulled the 6cyl and 3spd and putting a 292 with an auto trans. I lucked out and picked up the engine and trans cheep. On this truck I'm staying with a 6volt system and getting a 6volt alternator from FIFTH AVENUE PARTS COUNTER. They carry parts for 6volt and 6to12volt systems. the alternator should help alot and I won't have to change allthe electrics,
good luck
