Are we next

I was looking around on the Ford Webpage and decided to take a look at the new Expedition. Their motor options for 2007 is a 4.5 Diesel or a 4.6 Hybrid. both put out 300 hp. The diesel puts out 450lb and the 4.6 hybrid puts out 365lb torque:
===================
4.5L V8 Diesel Engine

300+ horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. The diesel is designed to get 3-4 mpg better fuel economy on average compared to the 5.4L gas engine.
===================
4.6L V8 Gas-Electric Hybrid

300 horsepower with 365 lb.-ft. of torque. The hybrid is designed to get 3-4 mpg better fuel economy on average compared to the 5.4L gas engine.

I wonder if we can get this in our trucks in the next few years. A 6 speed tranny two. Which one would you get. I want a diesel. I love the smell.

I wonder if thats a turbo diesel? If so think of the potential it would have, a tuner exhaust and an intercooler, bam 400+ hp and 600+ torque! I bet that Ford will put these in the trucks in a year or 2..

It will be Turbo for the simple fact that that Diesel engines need a turbo just achieve a decent efficiency.

I have 2 freinds who are employed by Ford--one is a Service Center General Manager, the other is a diesel technician. In conversation, I brought the topic up and both in independent conversations said the same thing. The current front end suspension design of the Expedition will not support the additional weight of a diesel. If Ford is thinking of putting a diesel option, then they are probably looking at re-tooling the front to handle the extra weight. This is in no way saying that it could never happen, but for those who think 07 is bringing a diesel, I don't see how it could happen when the dealerships have absolutely no indication that it is going to happen. Maybe soemwhere down the road, but it seems like that will be in a truck with much different underpinnings.

the 4.5 or the vt 275 weighs 790 pounds i dont know the weight of the 5.4 but it cant weigh more than 300 pounds of the diesel. and with the redesign of the the expedition im sure they have thought of it. especialy if they put a future option out there for it. not to mention that the vt 275 wont meet 2010 emmisions. so it will be here sooner than you think.
