4.6L modular engine

Anyone have any experance with this engine? It is listed as a v8-281 SOHC, 215 HP from a Expedition (97/98?). I have been offered it with the automatic overdrive, and wire harness/computer.

If I buy it I would install it in a 1959 F100 short wheelbase used as a driver with light towing. I am looking for performance, but gas economy is the most important to me.

Any suggestions/comments/experance?

Thanks -

No direct experience, but it should give you a nice balance of fuel economy and power. If you lived closer I could help with the install on a regular basis.

I've had a little experience with them as fitted to the '93 Crown Vic. I think it's a great engine and would be way cool in an older truck like that. Now you've got me thinking about putting one in one of the F1s I'm getting...! I say go for it, but be prepared to have an interesting(!) time with the wiring. I think there are probably aftermarket engine swap harnesses available that should make it a bit easier.

The only thing that sticks out in mind about the 4.6L motor is that it gets about the same mileage as the 5.4L but not nearly as much power.
