My wife has been working hard for the last year setting up a Celebrity Charity Auction to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp. The auction will be held on July 29, 2006 at the Logansport Mall in Logansport, Indiana, and will offer a very wide variety of items donated by an equally wide variety of celebrities and sports personalities.
For those unfamiliar with the Victory Junction Gang Camp, it is a camp for children with chronic medical conditions or serious illness. It provides camping experiences that are fun, exciting, physically safe and medically sound for these children who would otherwise never have the opportunity. The 75-acre site includes a dining hall, gym, pool, theater, therapeutic equestrian center, arts & crafts center, 16 camper cabins, and more. The camp is free to the children and their families.
The list of items donated for the auction is much too long to post here, but run the gamut from photographs, hats, shirts & jackets to diecasts, CD's, books, scripts, and even includes a fiddle and a racing helmet. The vast majority of items are autographed and those that aren't are of a collectible nature. Door prizes are also planned.
It has also been recently confirmed that Boston Reid, driver of the #25 Woodard Racing Craftsman Series Truck, who is a native of Logansport, will attend the event and be available for autographs.
A few examples of donated items to be auctioned:
-Anton Breton fiddle autographed by Charlie Daniels
-Purdue basketball autographed by Coach Matt Painter
-Henry Lee Summer autographed "Live" CD
-Lee Trevino autographed hat
-Alan Alda autographed script from MASH episode "Inga"
-racing helmet from Ford Racing autographed by Jack Roush
and Mark Martin
-autographed photos from many, many celebrities including Bette Midler,
James Caan, Richard Drefuss, John Mellencamp, Alan Jackson, Fabio,
Martin Sheen, John Elway, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, and
many, many more
This doesn't even scratch the surface of the items to be auctioned, so if anyone would like a complete list (to date, as donations are still coming in), e-mail me or send me a PM and we'll be happy to e-mail you a copy. This is strictly an individual effort to raise money for a great cause so we would greatly appreciate any interest or participation in this event.
