Which excursion to choose?

I am looking at 2 Excursions. Both are the same price. One has a PSD with 129,000 miles and the other is a V10 with 47,000 miles. Both are 2000 limited 2wd's and are in exceptional condition inside and out. I love the PSD but then again you don't find a 2000 with 47,000 miles every day either. Which should I choose?

With that big of a milage difference I would go V10 because you will get more miles out of the truck itself. The PSD has a ton of miles on the body, suspension, interior, etc.

I have a 2005 PSD and love the diesel so I can see why you would go with the PSD but from a practical stand point....V10 has over all less wear and tear.

Good luck.

First of you're presented with a fantastic opportunity, the opportunity of choice....

If at all possible, drive both of them each for the weekend or a few days, then decide. Both of them have an awesome amount of power throughout the RPM range and can seriously deliver when called upon. But like I said, drive both of them and see which one YOU like. You don't want to regret your decision. I always say: "if you're going to do something, do it right the first time and make sure you don't look back and kick yourself".

You'll get better fuel economy with the diesel but you'll also get much higher maintenance costs. Try getting the oil changed in the diesel for $25! It will never happen! I love the PSD's but my V10 costs so much less to maintain.

Not knowing your driving or towing needs or how long you plan/want to keep the X I would have to agree with the recommendation of the V10. I am on my second PSD Ford and - for what I need - would have nothing else. In my opinion - based on the info you have given - if you don't have a "use mandated" need for the PSD the low milage on the V10 gets the nod. Remember that - although the PSD should outlast the V10 - the rest of the X reacts the same way to high milage. In this case, low milage wins out.

we love our psd but to do oil chage your self you end up with 15qts of used oil, the ford house i use oil change runs about 56.00 and i do it @4000 miles also the price of diesel is about 15/20 cents more around here. we do get 20mpg hwy with no big load (f250) we are headed to wyoming this week i am pulling a box trailer, loaded with a/c and plumbing tools and supplys we will see what that will do to mpg. i think you are getting a good deal no matter whitch one you get.

I understand that a diesel is just "broken in" at 100,000 miles...but the rest of the truck is going to be showing wear. From the seats, springs, etc...it's still had 100,000 miles under it's belt.

I'd go with the 49,000 mile truck.

Get the V10 all the way. As other said, the diesel motor is good to go for quite a while, but the rest of the truck is going to need some TLC at 129k miles to keep it in good shape.

What do you plan to do with this vehicle? That is the most important question.,
