car 5.0 to truck

I have a 89 ford F-150 4x4 with the 5.0. I found an 87 cougar with the 5.0 and after reading some threads was wondering how i know whether to use the HO firing order or the normal 302 firing order or does ist even matter. the reason i am switching is my motor has a bad knock.
Thanks
Bigern

Basically I was just wondering how you can tell if the 87 cougar engine was the HO or just a regular 5.0?

it seems like it would say 5.0 HO on the intake, but being that old i dont know. I know on the HO the pushrods are much shorter (roller cam). And yes if it IS an HO you would have to use the 351W firing order.

If I recall correctly, the HO Cougars were '91-92, T-birds '91-'93 and they were mass air.
