Leather Wear

I have read many post about this subject but cant seem to find the answer that I am looking for.
When I purchased my truck a few years back the dealership had done some touch up on the leather interior of the truck. Since then it has worn off and now the leather is really showing a cracked looked, I was wondering if anyone knew of any product that I could use to retouch up the leather. I am trying to trade the truck in and every single dealer is hitting me on this. Any help would be great! Thanks so much!

PS its a 1998 lariat f150

You might try a leather warehouse or boot repair shop. They have a spray on product that is used for leather. It is basically a paint. I have used it on my steering wheel where the finish had worn off. I was able to get a good match, but it took numerous tries. I'm sorry that I cannot remember the name of the product, but it started with an M, the cans sold for between 3 & 5 dollars. I've had it on my truck steering wheel for over a year, and still looks good. You need to make sure that you thoroughly clean the leather to remove all conditioners, etc. before using it and use several light coats. Maybe this will help.

Thanks. I will call my friend at Red Wings right now. When you say paint, that seems like the same stuff that was on their before.

pretty much the same as paint. It does not crack like paint, has a little give, seems to wear real well. There are dyes out there, but both of the leather shops that I dealt with told me that would rub off. This does not. I think it is called Mentone.

ryan_neal if your truck is still in really good shape and it is just your driver seat where you park your butt, I would suggest ordering a factory replacement leather seat cover, I'm not sure the factory part number, but that leather cover can come off that seat. You do need a special upolstry tool I think they call it a bull ring tool, but my dealer has done this before for my brother, I don't know the cost because it was a warranty deal, but check it out.
