please guy go into the v10 area and read the stickie we have there about mpg in city and the other on highway. it's not as bad as you have posted.
mine own is really around big easy's and mine is modded pretty heavy . meaning sct's dealer custom programing will not let me increase the fuel, timing and shifting amount's any more then it is now.
plus i'm running 4:56's

I got the V10 vs. the deisel because it was over $10,000 cheaper for the same ride!
I'd always thought the deisel would have an advantage in terms of durability, but then I got 250,000 miles out of my last V10 with no engine or transmission problems.
This is the best gas motor package available today.

at 66,000 had to have a rebuild. I must have gotten one of the lemons. I have never gotten over 10mpg. I always set the cruise at 70mph and stick to my lane.
Some v10's are better than others. I personally will never have another gas powered truck again. I will stick with my diesels and be happy with the price of fuel.

Big Easy,I would be very interested to seehow it handles the 8000LB travel trailer which is exactly why I'm in here asking questions.I'm not sure what the V10 with 3.73 axle will handle and I really don't want to buy a diesel (I think
Could you e mail me (In case I miss the post/reply) and let me know when you've tried it?
I'm looking to possibly buy a 40' travel trailer which as you know will be at least 8000 or even 9000.
Thanks
George

I plan to drag the thing all over Texas in early June.
Prior to that I've got to get a proper weight distributing hitch.
From the little bit of towing I've done so far, I get the feeling that a good anti-sway system will be needed as well.
I'll be set up in a week or so, and report on a test pull.
It will pull fine I'm sure, my truck did and it was a V10.

I have had 2 Ex diesels, 2002 with the 7.3 PSD and 2005 with 6.0 PSD.
There are no better vehicles for pulling a 8,100# 31' Airstream.
I can stay in the "center lane" on I-26 while climbing the mountains
in western North Carolina and overall mileage is between 11 and 12 while towing.
The V-10 is a great engine but you can't beat the PSD for torque.
Best of luck with whichever you choose.
