Is a throttle body really worth it??

If you have future plans, TBs make sense. My mileage hasn't gone up or down with it installed on a basically stock engine.
I own a BBK 75mm TB and am progressing towards a supercharger. If I was just adding bolt-ons, I'm not so sure a TB would be a necessary item. I think headers, cat-back exhaust, and an FIPK - along with a tuner - might be a better route.
The cleaning of the MAF is best done by removing it from the housing and spraying electronics cleaner at the two filaments... don't touch them. If you have mileage issues a clean TB may gain you a couple tenths... it's that oil of the high flow gauze filters that craps the MAF up the most.

I disagree with preppypyro, as most aftermarket upgrades 'tune' an engine for a specific use. A larger TB problably, and in reality, will make your truck's engine's peak torque change toward a higher RPM - not what I'd want for towing or driving around town, but it'll be great for racing later on (if a massive fuel / computer / exhaust job is in the works). Some aftermarket mods do nothing at all (false claims), some do next-to-nothing until other mods are installed, and some are detrimental to the common-style of driving most of us do, but will work great for a drag-strip.
