Tachometer

I have a 2002 F-150 XL 4x4. It didn't come with a tach from the factory but I want one. Can I install an instument cluster with a tach from a wrecked F-150 and how? Does it just plug right into the harness or will I have to do it myself? Also will the odometer read the mileage of my truck or the mileage of the wrecked truck? Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Installing a cluster with a tach will work. You will have to get both your keys reprogrammed at your dealer to match the new cluster though. You won't be able to start the truck until they are programmed. The odometer will read whatever the truck the cluster came out of had on it.
