Question Fan Clutch- freespool-how much???

Ok, its like ten degrees out and i start my truck up and it seems like that monster fan is throwing back alot of air onto the engine when its that cold out-side.i put my hand up to the fan and its blowin hard (remind you all within the the first min. of start-up.) I then turn ther truck off and spin the fan manually by hand and its kind off hard to spin but spins.Should it spiun very freely? How easy to spin by hand should it be ?Thats my main question. And how much does your fan clutches free-spin when the clutch is not engaged.

It just doesnt seem like the fan clutch is as efficient as it should be. to me it seems like it should be throwing that much air back at the engine until it is well enough warm too.

A viscous coupling should never free spin. There should always be some resistance. Your's is completely normal, everybody's clutch is like that until it warms up a bit.
