Tug of War...F150 vs Titan!
#16
No worries, I usually don't post here, I just browse for information since I'm the only good mechanic in the family and we have a couple of Ford trucks (an F150 and an F350). I agree also with the uselessness of the tug-of-war concept, I feel it more depends on the driver's skill and reaction when two comparable trucks are compared, which in the video probably wasn't the case.

Back on topic, it wasn't even a new F150. It looks like a 97-98 based on the front bumper. No mention of engine size either.
I can also hold a car myself with a rope while it's doing a brakestand. Makes a good looking video, too.

Well, to my knowledge, all 97+ F150's with with any V8, whether 4.6 or 5.4 have the "Triton V8" badge. If it does have a 4.2, thats a really pathetic comparison truck vs truck wise. 200hp & 250ft lbs vs. 300 hp and 380 ft lbs. (2004 titan power). A 4.6 probobly wouldnt do so well either.
A 3v 5.4 F150 would be a better tug o war, something more updated like the nissan is. I'd like to see the Titan vs. something with closer engine displacement. It would be good.

Tug of wars are stupid, its only gonna show you who looses traction first. Even with perfect traction, and a big torque gap, neither would pull eachother, both trucks would just stand still gassing.
Also in those tug of wars, it can come down to who romps on the gas first, thats the dude who looses traction first.
*Notice in the stupid Ram vs Bronco *II* video, the Ram was pulling the Bronco pretty easily at the very start, the Bronco was slipping, then the Bronco layed on the brakes and halted any momentum. thats when the Ram let off and the Bronco got a jump on the Ram, then the Ram started way too hard on the gas and lost traction, thus the bronco could now pull a Ram pickup with almost triple the power and zero traction footing. Theres no way a Bronco II has anywhere near the pulling power of a Ram pickup like that.
