It's a 3-2 split so far. The drivers side is ahead. 2 of the Drivers side were broken by rocks or other debris getting shot-up on the freeway. 1 passenger side was broken by a tree branch. And the other 2 times are a complete mystery. I've never actually had the opportunity to pull the mirrors in before they were damaged. The tree branch was blown off of a neighbors tree in a wind storm and just happen to hit the mirror and the front tire.

If you haven't gotten the part for your mirror yet, I'd recommend http://www.powerstrokeshop.com - I just got the newer style cupholder to replace the one in my 2000, along with a new lower convex mirror for my passenger side which I had broken. The cupholder turned out great, but the mirror ended up being the fixed one on the 99's/EARLY 2000's rather than the adjustable one I needed. I called them up that day (yesterday) afterhours, got a call back this morning, and a new one is on its way out to me now, on their dime. They also said they'd reimburse me for the shipping costs in sending the incorrect mirror back.

Anyway, just wanted to give them a recommendation for their great customer service (and I think their prices are lower than you'd pay to the dealer).

I recently broke my mirror backing out of my friends driveway and I hit his cast iron mailbox. I just broke the trim that appears to go around the edge of the housing. Is this piece replaceable? The dealer's parts man said I had to buy the whloe mirror for $225.

I'll go take a picture of what the replacement housing looks like so you can deduce wether that would suffice.

Edit:

Here's the picture of the mirror housing cover:

exterior:

inside:

You can see the crack in the reflector lens in the first picture. Its not bad... The lights still work, and when on the truck you can hardley tell it is cracked. If anyone has a badly cracked mirror housing that they haven't replaced because they don't want to drop the coin or something let me know. You can have this one.

Like I said, the crack is very minor, the LED's still work. The only thing I would ask is that if someone takes this, and then eventually does get a new one, they would make the same offer to pass this one on to someone else.

Unhappy

Okay, I'm new to the forum and after reading this, you'll figure out I'm new to my F-250 Super Crew Lariat. Upgraded from 2001 F-150.

I did it! One month, three days, ...Dang tree! Driver's side...The only thing "smashed" was the amber signal lens...Super Glue didn't work. Clear tape....maybe.

Is 4C3Z-17D743BAA all I need for the driver side?

Y'up, that's it. It will be the entire back half of the mirror housing including the amber lens.

I have no clue as to what everything in the descriptions mean. They're both the same part though. Just make sure they know it's for an '05 Superduty.

Hey Geekycamper,
Call Y2Kford and ask for Ed, he runs the web site and is also the parts manager. He'll tell you the difference. The phone number is on their web site.

Where's the best place to buy the parts (pricing and avail)? I live in the north Atlanta area and there's tons of Ford dealers around; however, my experiences with the dealers here, are that they usually ask for full list prices, then tax.

y2kford is waaay over yonder and the cost to ship across country (btw, I now see all the sponsors, so I'm looking for something closer.)

Opinions?

I replaced the back on my 04 the price was 105.00 at the dealership. I wish I had known how to get the clips out before. Heck, I just used my dremmel tool and disected the old one to remove it. You have to love power.
