Unhappy help tranny trouble

I have a 1995 ford explorer and the tranny wont shift from forst to 2nd till about 3200 rmps..and sometimes when i let of the throutle it will shift...but once it shifts to 2nd..it shifts fine..till i try to go up a hill then it shifts from drive to 1st..can anyone tell me if this is a switch somewhere

Well, do you know what type of tranny you have? How many cylinder? What model vehicle?

well its a 95 explorer and it has a 4.0 i think...it was giving to me i really havent looked it over that much....i do no that the o/d button is on the shifter and that the o/D light flashes..all the title says is what i wrote...excepted the enine size..it is a sport though 2 dr

'95 Explorer will have a 4.0 OHV engine and a 4R55E transmission. The flashing OD light indicates that the computer has detected the fault. Best first step would be to pull codes from the computer and see what the computer has to say. Most '95's were EEC-IV, so you should be able to pull codes with nothing more than a paper clip. See Ken00's tech info post at the top of the BII forum for instructions on pulling EEc-Iv codes.
