I fixed mine on friday and I had the exact same symptoms as you do. Basically the fix involves pulling the shift motor opening it up and putting a piece of hose over a stop bolt on the gear inside of it as the gasket that was originally on it is probably damaged or disintegrated as mine was. Unfortunately I can't post a link to the article that shows you the fix because the site does not allow it. I will see what I can do to help everyone out as this is a common problem.

Try here; http://draco.acs.uci.edu/explorer/tcase.html
This is a common problem on Gen I Explorers and some Bronco II's.

The funny thing about the stealth on this site is go back and hit the quote button on firefighters post - you can then read his email address.

Jerry's got the right link to the procedure. I also posted another link to an even better write up, maybe a month ago - search for that. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=452995

I have noticed that some web page links are blocked out automatically. Then a moderator needs to bless the post or modify it. Think it depends on how nice you are at the time and whether or not the moderator is getting along with his old lady that day. The Draco web site and the fordfuelinjection.com web site seem to be OK to post though.
