Manual to Auto conversion

I gotta 80 f100,I6-300,manual 3 speed,swb,will it be major task in putting in automatic transmission? What type up tranny should I look for c4--c6--????
Any input would be appreciated.

I did this swap on my old 76 e-150 2 years ago
I picked up a van for parting out to make it easy 500.00
c4 or c6 are both very good trans
just make sure it fits the 300
check the driveshaft length, trans cooler in rad. and crossmember trans mount, cooler lines to rad
also you will need a shifter, a b&m floor mount works well
if you can find a donor truck that will be the best way to do it
otherwise start hitting the junk yards and collecting the pieces and parts

one more thing
starter for auto is differant from the standard

i think you are mistaken on the starter thing i took a starter off my 79 f150 2wd auto parts truck and put it on my 84 f150 4wd standard the 2wd had a 302 and the 84 has a 300
