tranny shudder

I have a 2000 f-150 4x4 full load 4.6v8 auto and today when accelerating at about 25mph 1700 rpm in second gear(just putting around) my truck seemed to lightly shudder, no noise just almost like a quick vibration. I took my foot off the gas and it went away, back on the gas and it came back, after that I couldn't make it do it again. When i got home(only a couple of minutes away), I checked the tranny fluid(which was just below add), shut the truck off, waited 10 min and checked the oil which was just above add. Does anybody know what could cause this.
Thanks, Nick

How many miles are on the truck? How long since the tranny has been serviced? Sounds like a total fluid change might be the cure.

Does it seem to be a transmission issue or could it be the engine, like a misfire?

Sounds like the torque converter is slipping.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the torque converter locks up until 3rd gear.

sorry for the delay, as it turns out there was a misfire on cyl#1, not the coilpack but a spark plug(changed 15,000 miles agoto bosch platinum). The spark plug looked good, gap was good, a little wear on the tab, then I noticed a small divit in the center of the electrode, replaced the plug and now it runs great. I don't understand why it was only missing under load. thanks for the replies

I've heard Bosch spark plugs and Fords don't mix.

Yeah, I've heard to only use Motorcraft or Autolite. Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I'm going to change mine soon.

I always try to stick with what came in the engine origianlly. AC for GM, Motor Craft for Ford, Champion for Chrysler, etc.
