how many people have had abs problems
#4
On my 93 with ABS (not RABS) I disabled the system a while back due to chronic ABS warning light on the dash. I ran the ABS self test and the code was indicating a pump or such IIRC.....well anyhow, I never fixed it.....I live with the ABS light on all the time. I guess once the weather warms a bit I will take another look at it.
As for right now.......I been driving for the last two years or so with just good old normal brakes, I did go all way around and replace everything when I go the truck, and she will stop on a dime......thats 99% of good enough for me.

117,000 miles on my '95 and have not a problem with them, except for the time the local brake shop broke one of the sensors on the front when doing the brakes.
I wish that ABS was user-selectable on four-wheel drive vehicles. I want it on for when my wife is driving it, but after 11 years with this truck, I am STILL not used to how it feels when it modulates the brakes on slick surfaces when in four-wheel drive. I'd rather trust myself to downshift and hold it on the hairy edge of breaking the wheels loose from the road, but that's just me.

150,000 miles and i got a bad hcu motor, problem is ford's price for the part is $1400. i can get it at cost for $900 (alot of money for a truck i'll toss in another 2 years) no after market part and i cant seam to find one in the junkyards. think i'll just pull the bulb, abs is overrated anyway.

ABS is great, no doubt, until it breaks. Then it gets pricey. If you disconnect it, you basically just go back to a truck with no ABS.
We bought a later bronco for the ABS and air bag. I'd replace it. But the truck has relatively low miles and is rust free. I am planning on 5+ years of ownership, at the least.

I ditched my ABS, had a wheel speed sensor get trashed from the previous owner not fixing a wheel bearing. Then I needed to replace my axle u joints and didnt have the 12 point socket to remove the speed sensor. It was getting late so frustration kicked in and solved the problem the unethical way. Truck works great with ABS light on all the time, but I like conventional brakes better anyway.
