Thumbs up How Many Of Us Work For A FORD Dealership?

I heard about the job through a family friend and they hired me last week! I'm happy with being a driver, I'm good at it! My co-workers are all happy with what they do, nobody complains, there is no in-fighting like I experienced in other jobs. I'm really happy to be working (almost) for the company that built my 77 F250!

My hats of to the techs at the dealerships. I know they get a bad rap sometimes. But from what i come accross, most are good people working HARD to make a liveing on the pay system of a dealership. There hands are tied when management goes under the hood. If something comes back that is there fault the comeback comes out of their pocket, is that the case in your job? Some will be glad to share what they know to help you along, look at this site. Most of us wont get to see the little thing that the mechanic might catch and fix with no mention on the work order. So i say Thank you , and this Buds for you. Dave P

Tech here too.
four-sixty-power if you're picking up parts for the guys in the shop that's a good time to not waste time. They'll like you if you get them their parts quickly and hate you if you dont

Work as a tech for going on 2 years now. Still in high school and am a senior this year. I work after schools and on Saturdays. Want to learn diesels for some odd reason. People keep telling me im crazy. Whats it like in your Ford dealers? Lots of work or slowing up?

Ford Dealership

Great to hear you starting out early dunn6253. I've just been out of tech school 1 year. There is a shortage of young techs who are willing to learn. Right now depending on the area you live in work can be kinda slow. Even so i didn't have a problem getting a job when i graduated this time last year. Three job offers near my house. All i had to do is pick the one i wanted. If you want to email or p.m. me i would be glad to talk to you about options for more training when you get out of high school. I know what its like i was there just a couple of years ago. keep up the good work.

I used to work for a dealership, my son still does. A hundred years ago, before going to college I figured that the world would always need mechanics, never looked back. Take any ASE tests that you can, that will help in the long run. (don't know about Canada)

Thought I'd mention that I quit my job as a parts driver. I was carpooling to work One Hour & 40 minutes in every morning and approx Two Hours back every night(I slept on way in and on way home). My plan was to move to the big city with a friend(I wouldn't have been able to afford a place on my own) but that fell through AND I lost my carpool so I was driving WAY too much all time! 6 months at that job was interesting though, I hadn't really worked with the public(sort of - business people) that much before. I enjoyed but don't want to do it again. The best part was they called me some weeks later to ask me to come back even though I quit! I must have been very good at my job, I feel validated now ( I turned them down of course, working locally is much better on the wallet for fuel-ups)

Four-sixty power, which dealership were you working at? I used to work at Totem back about 95-96, parts driver, then 97 in the body shop as a bodyman.

And yes, I know Totem isn't there anymore.
