Alright guys, i have a dillemma. I have a 98 f-150 46. 5 speed 2wd. i dont think its running as good as it needs to, because i got outran by a v-6 150 tonight. both have the same mods. K&N, flowmasters. 1st off, is there anything maintenance wise i should do, i changed the plugs about 2000 miles ago. next, would something like a hypertech programmer help, with a 5 speed? or does anyone have any other ideas?
Was the V6 auto or 5-speed? If it was an auto I can see why your doors were blown off, the mazda tranny in these trucks will not stand up to racing, you can not speed shift, and if you do, than you will be posting about how to change a m5od before you know it.
I dunno bigdaddy, I raced around alot in my 89, and it had a mazda 5 speed in it, and she shifted really good, really fast. That ol 89 is hard to beat!
Honestly, he is a better driver, but we swapped. i drove his truck, and he drove mine, and his still won. his is a couple years newer though. so do you think there is some kind of maintenance i need to do or would a hypertech or superchip cure my problem?
