When can you pull codes on 93 Ranger?
I have a question about pulling codes on a 93 Ranger 3.0. My mechanic friend says that you can only pull them when the CEL light is on and i have read on some of the posts and replies you can have them pulled at junk zone. What is a poor soul to believe. Can I have the code puled at any time or do I have to wait until the problem persists and the light is on all the time? By the way mine has 136,000 miles on it and thanks to proper maint. is still running strong.

Since your '93 Ranger has Fords EEC IV system, it's possible to have trouble codes stored without having a CEL on. You could have on demand codes (usually current codes) or keep alive codes stored. Running a key on engine off self test with a scan tool can retrieve those for you, that is,if any are stored.
