2003 F350 DRW CC/LB 4.30LS 2.5in true dual exhaust, no cats. My best was 14.5mpg going to PA. My average is 12-13mpg with 1100lbs in bed to make it ride better. Used to have a 2005 Kia Sorento and pulled my 2000lb boat to WV and only got 13mpg with a V6! The same run in my SD I got 12mpg. Kia+boat=6300lbs F350+boat=10500lbs 4200lbs more only 1mpg less. Not bad. Oh, I drove 70-75mph for both trips.

F250, KR
4.10
CC/SB
4X4
275/65R 20E
No Mods
Empty box, no cover
30K miles
Highway, fairly level, 11.5 at best, towing 24 FT Chaparral 7.8
This thing is a gas guzzling rolling brick, but will pull anything I put behind her and looks really good doing it. Not a daily driver, serves my needs well.

Changing gearing to get above 9 mpg
Can't get much over 9.5 no matter how I drive my 01 V10 sd cc 4x4.
Going from 430 to 377, but will consider any advise that is sound. Checking out my O2 sensors and trying to find where my gas leak, with that kind of mpg it must be going some where.
Reading all the posting with 12-14 mpg must have something wrong.
Can anyone point to the right froum or post to get some ideas on how to fix this problem?

my E350 V10 van loves cooler weather!
As I normally get 15 hwy, this was great.

As stated, a lot depends on how you drive. If you like fast take-offs in stop and go traffic, fast driving on the highway, you'll be in the lower range which is possibly around 9 city and 11-12 highway.
On the other hand, I drive slow by some standards. I keep up with traffic in the city but dont outrun them. On the highway, I'll set the cruise at about 72 and let it ride.
I'll report back on my current mileage (since I have larger tires) in the near future.
