Thanks-Triton/SparkPlugs

Just wanted to thank all of you for the info on the triton engine/spark plug info - a relative (very good mechanic) warned us of spark plug/aluminum head problem on triton engines while frying the turkey for Christmas day (um, that was a damn fine bird). Said ford shop back home had 3-4 F-150 cabs suspended from ceiling when he dropped by to pick up parts - when he asked why -all were having head jobs - apparently those accounted for about 15 done in Dec. '05 at that dealership. Said the mech's there were recommending plugs every 50K miles.

Hadn't heard anything about that (doubted him, since he's a Dodge guy, and, well, need I say more) - asked at work - no one there had either- came here to check it out.

I recently sold F150 '99 to relative (about 57K miles in Oct'05) - he didn't wait and took to his mech last week - who changed all 8 plugs for $150, and mech said he won't touch it if any plug appears to stuck as that will almost certainly mean replacing the heads. My relative who held the light/passed the tools said it was the best $150 he'd spent, considering what the mech had to go through.

Thanks - Happy '06 - Go Hawkeyes!!!

While it ain't my favorite past time either, I would change plugs all day for $150 a set. And if you use a bit of antiseize on the plug threads, there is no worries. I got over 65k on mine in 5 years, but then plugs and wires were just getting too old and I had to break down and replace them.
