Thanks, I have tried the old long screwdriver trick, but each time I get close to the atl. or other components, I nail the fan and it make me about s%@t my pants. I know I'm close probing around but I just can't put my finger on it!

Exactly!... just like an empty spray can that's being shaken!! Anyone thinking it might be a bearing? or water pump itself? I'm almost sure now that the noise comes from that pulley. Options are fan clutch, bearing, water pump... any ideas?

I work for the city public works and I stayed after work with out mechanic and we removed the drive belt and it still made the sound. So now I know it's not the alt., water pump, power steering pump, idler. ect.. he thinks it might be timing chain related.

Thats what I was tellling you towards the begining of this post---timing chain or piston slap, they sound like a disel motor idling or several paint cans being shaken, Thats what the v6 Rangers sounded like when they had the problem.
