Talking '03 computer -upgrade/update at ford garage

so has anyone had their chip (computer) reset with the latest stats at Ford lately? heard it can improve mileage and performance, even better shifting.
not ready to buy my own chip upgrader (ha, forgot as i type the manf).
anyway, from reading the forum, air filters really dont help much as far as gas mileage is concerned...
am still studing the benefits of better exhaust system..
any info about going to ford and getting the latest ford upgrade on chip would be appreciated............thxs

oh, by the way, i joined the 1997-2003 club by getting a 2003 fx4 5.4, supercab, 355 limited slip this last week.......still not used to the gas mileage, came from a ranger so you can understand the shock, LOL !!!

My 01 averages between 13 and 14mpg. There may be an upgrade for the PCM, but I'm not sure. I have a K&N filter and Flowmaster cat-back with dual tail pipes.

Congrats on the truck, I've been really happy with mine.

Most of the updated calibrations are for emissions or driveability concerns.
Ford doesn't always tell us what they change when they change them.
Sometimes it may help with mileage, sometimes it may hurt it.

I have a PDS Ford scan tool at our business and as Racerguy said - I have only seen improvements for driveability concerns. I've also has luck with fixing lean codes with it. I have seen or heard or heard of no improvements on performance/mileage. I have an 02 F-150 SC 5.4 4X4 and all i get is 10 MPG - stock. No matter how hard/easy I drive it. I also have reprogrammed a couple of my co-workers trucks both 00 F-150's and didn't make any difference on them either.
