#5 Cylinder Misfire

ok, with help I have located #5 Cylinder on my 01, 5.4L engine and with out removing the plug, things don't look bad. In the past I have found water in them after some rain. I've removed and replaced plugs before and don't look forward to doing it again. Any thoughts on how to check the coil or would i be money ahead to take it to the shop?

A spark tester, or a timing gun, or you could just stick your finger in there. lol I know it's not funny, but I've been fighting a misfire here for the past week. I assume you are using dielectric grease on those boots. If this happen very much to me, I'd probally start using some silicone around the top of those boots.

I've been chasing a mis on the #2 cyclinder in my 4.2l F150 for about 3 months. Not easy. The Haines manual, though not great overall, has pretty good instructions on checking the resistance for the primary and secondary circuts on the coil pack for my motor. It also gives the spec and instructions for checking the wires. On my truck it was pretty easy. Read: not worth taking to a shop if you have an ohm meter.
