'97 Long bed with 5.0 liter stalls

Hello again folks! This time it's not my F-150 in trouble, it's my buddies! He has stalling issues when slowing down, I had him go to Auto Zone and they pulled up a crank position sensor code. I'm going to replace it for him along with the fuel filter but I can't find references to where they live on the truck! If it were mine I'd be all set but this thing has a 5 liter instead of mod motor, I guess the long bed didn't come with the mod motor until '98. Tips and tricks? Will the crank sensor fix the stall?

I'm told it's a '97... old body style held over with 5.0.

If thats the case it should be a 96. The Heavy duty held over with the old engines. You could buy both body styles in 96, bcuz the new style came out in jan of 96. if your looking, look at the specs for the 96. this was a HUGE problem when I managed an auto parts store when both of these body styles came out at the same time. As far as the fuel filter, it should live inside the frame rail on the driver's side behind the cab. Easiest way to find out the year is to take the mfg date from the sticker inside the drivers door..that way there is no question
