New 2006 F150 Oil Confusion

Just read my owner's manual and it says I should use 5w 20 Full Synthetic during my oil changes.

Can I assume that it is filled with full synthetic at the factory?

Do I have to use full synthetic? semi-synthetic? normal oil?

Jeff

I'm not sure about the 06 F150 but all the other fords that call for 5w20 call for MotorCraft 5W20 Synthetic Blend, which might I add is a pretty good oil. I'm pretty sure this is what they reccomend as nothing has changed from the 04-06 5.4L or the 4.6L since the introduction of 3V heads and VVT.

i think you read the manual wrong. it is semi synthetic. also there is no such thing as normal oil. the lowest grade of 5w20 you can buy is semi synthetic. they are all blends, if it says ford 930a spec on the bottle.

Motorcraft synthetic blend 5w20 is most likely factory fill and is an excellent oil for Ford F-150 engines.

Motorcraft still offers a premium 5w20 that is NOT semi-synthetic.

I did not know that. So my plain jane Valvalene 5/20 is semi synthetic. I learned something new today. With 50,000 miles should I change to the Motocraft blend? hanks!
