Cool 5.4 tickin noise

I have a 99 with a 5.4, everytime i start the truck there is a slight tickin noise coming from somewhere close to the motor along with this tickin, when i start the truck when it is cold there is another noise that I really cant explain but kinda sounds like pissed off cat/ hyena whine. It only makes this noise for 30 seconds or so then the tickin goes away after a few minutes of driving.

If anyone has information or had some similar problems please let me know, I wanna get it fixed and need to know how bad Im gonna have to break the bank.

the pissed off cat noise is the power steering pump dont worry about it. and I would say the ticking noise is the oil moving up to the tappets should help if the truck is plugged in. other than that check your oil and if you want use mercon v for your power steering. (I think that is what it is called check with dealer though)

If the ticking noise only happens when the engine is cold a common problem is broken exhaust manifold studs where the manifold attaches to the head. As the engine wamrs the gap between the manifold and head closes up and the tick goes away. Usually it's on the passenger's side of the engine.

or the tick is the much more common failed ADBV in the oil filter. so the engine has a dry start. which brand oil filter are you running, does it have a silicone DBV???
