96 explorer clunking in front end

My 96 Explorer makes several "clunks" upon taking off, and upon accelleration from near stop. The sound seems to be from both sides of the front end, and you can feel the thumps, as if something is engaging. No problems at all when underway, only at takeoff. Please advise of problem, complexity, cost of repair

There are pads on the on torsion bar that wear out. My guess would be that is what your problem is. Search this forum for the problem adn you will find a few threads on it.
