I had mine powder coated. I looks good and it's easy to clean.

Painted mine with flat black high temp engine paint. I didn't use any sort of primer. I cleaned it all down really good with a grinder, a wire brush, and some paint thinner. It looks really good. I thought about painting the letters on top a different color. It came out really good.

Minnesota 4x4, what all did you do to that intake? How is it holding up now? That looks incredibly good, thinking that I might have to go that route if everything is holding up and it isn't too involved.

wickymustang, I degreased the upper and lower manifolds, then dust taped off the machined surfaces and lightly sandblasted them. I applied 3 coats of the aluminum paint, then I used the POR-15 Ford Blue engine paint on the raised letters and then applied 3 coats of clear coat. I'm not sure how it is going to hold up, I haven't install the engine yet.

Sure, here's the intake manifold for an EFI 7.5L (460) I painted this summer. Also painted the dual-throttle body adapter I made that's bolted on top.

I degreased it the best I could, then scrubbed it with a toothbrush and oven cleaner which contains lye. Hosed it off, dried it with several towels, then primed it with an aluminum-compatible etching primer. Then painted with rustoleum industrial paint.
