I got the cps in and after a couple cranks it fired a little and stopped. I put the charger back on and will try again in a little while.

Try refilling the bowl a few more times.....it can be tough to get the system primed after a mechanical pump change.

Hmmm? I pulled up on the filter and the bowl was still full. I put it back slowly and overflowed a little bit.

Cam position sensor. Little plastic thingy near the right side of your water pump. real common breakdown, if your having trouble and don't have a spare buy one because you'll probably use it someday. Remember to get one from International for about 100 bucks, twice that from Ford.

I'm not as knowledgeable on fuel deliveryas I'd like, so I've been following this thread to learn myself. So correct me if I'm wrong, but I hate to hear a guy mess up his vacation. The initial problem (running rough, loss of power) sounded like a ICP (Injector Control Pressure) sensor, IPR (Injector Pressure Regulator) or fuel pump problem to me. Then it seems every time he empties the fuel filter canister, it's had problems filling or it's full with little or no pressure / fuel at the schrader valve. That sounds like a problem with the fuel pressure regulator (sticking closed and / or open) or the fuel pump. Fuel pump has been replaced. Aren't there also check valves on the fuel lines going into the fuels rails so that fuel does not return to the fuel cannister? Just my 2 cents to try and help, and learn myself.

dr9999, are you getting any white smoke when you crank it? Have you measured the fuel pressure at the schrader valve? The fuel pressure regulator is behind the little screen in the fuel filter canister on the fuel return line. Be careful if you take it off. Alot of little parts, springs, washers, etc. from what I've read. You probably already know that. Maybe someone can post an exploded view of it if they have one, if you need it.

My two cents is it's the IDM or IPR...If you are around the Destin Florida area I will let you try my IDM..

I thought i remember the bowl would fill faster than that? I did disc. the batteries yesterday when i cleaned the terminals for probably and hour. The oil guage is working now and i did check the wire harnesses. I think i will go buy a cps to see if that works, maybe both of mine are burnt.
you know as a ford tech i think that you are just throwing parts(alot of money) @ your truck, have it towed to a ford dealer and they will have it diagnosed properly in 1-2 hrs, so you may spend $70-140, but why waste all your free time and swap out parts that are obviously not the issue. just to save some diag time??

Well i shut down on the truck and went ride through the swamp to check on a spot for duck hunting, that went well the hole i am going to hunt had at least 1500 ducks and about 3000 coots. This weekend is only open for people age 15 and under. we were going to camp out for the weekend but not if i could'nt prepare.

Anyway i'm in south LA it's been pretty warm, When i crank i am getting a little white smoke but it seems less than what i would get from cold mornings. I'm going to check fuel pressure with my brother's guage when i get back to it. But i am pulling my boat with my brothers minivan. I may get back to the truck maybe sunday afternoon.

Ok, i just removed the schrader valve and cranked couple turns and did note some fuel spilled out. i put it back in and had my wife crank while i held a tire pressure guage to the valve and cranked 3 times and did not see a wink. I removed the fuel filter and took a careful measurement of the level of the fuel and cranked 3 times checking level after each. The fuel level did not change. So i looking for info on the fuel path from the tank to the fuel bowl? Any hints.

if the idm is bad the injectors wont fire thus not spraying any fuel. i highly doubt you have a clog going to one of your fuel rails.
