I have a 1991 F-150 XL with 200,000km on it. Recently, after having driven for an hour I noticed when I stopped at an intersection, the oil presure gauge dropped what seemed dangerously low. There was no tapping sound from the engine and the oil level was good when checked. If anyone has any thoughts on what to check first, it would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance all.

 

Just a thought but how bout installing a manual oil pressure guage. If it is still low may be rebuild time.

 

oil gauge in dash is an idiot light.

if pressure drops below 7 psi than it moves.

get a mech gauge to check your engine.

mine had a clogged oil screen but i also replaced pump even though it did not look bad.
