How do I increase Gas Milage

I have a 1999 Ford F-150 5.4L with 17in tires. No modifications have been done. I have been getting 17MPG and I drive at altitudes of 6,500 to 10,200.
Any sugestions (other than installing a KN air filter, my son lost milage when he installed the KN on his F-150) would be greatly appriciated.

I saw the goofiest bumper sticker as I was driving ...

"If you want better gas mileage...

Raise your right foot."

Not much of a tech assist, but it does make a difference.

There's just not much you can do with these trucks to get more than 17-18 without spending a ton of money. Even then you're not going to get to 20. I went through this same line of thought a while back and finally came to the conclusion I was trying to spend roughly 3 times the that I could save and I drive about 50k miles per year.
