sounds easy, but...
am I going to have any surprises or long term problems if I go to a 285/70/17 on stock 2000 4wd? Want to turn torsion bars up to level front end, will there be anything needed besides basic alignment? Have been reading about an alignment adjusting bolt or bracket--will that be a problem? Stock rear end-3.55 limited slip--gearing issues with taller tires? I'm sure many have done this, just how sluggish will this make truck at low end driving and take off? Thanks for your opinions.

285's should fit with no rubbing. My 315's rub quite a bit even with some trimming so I'm dropping down to 285's once these wear out. You MIGHT notice a slight drop in acceleration off the line. I DEFINITELY notice it with mine. I have the 3.73 LS so I can't comment on any gearing issues, but I doubt there would be any.

285's should be no problem, I put a set on mine and had not problems with them rubbing. I did crank the bars up to level the front, had the alignment checked and drove away. I too have the 3.73's so can't say what the 3.55's would do. I noticed very little just going from 265 to 285 tires.

well, mine isn't a 4wd, and i don't have mud tires, but I do have 305/45/R22 on my truck with 3.55 gears and acceleration is a little lacking, especially when cruising on the highway. If all possible, get different gears. That's what I play on doing when I get the money. I have a superchips and that helps out a little, especially when I have it set on Performance-Towing Tune.
